Anni Dewani - REST IN PEACE (not the only statistic)

As shock of the news of Anni's murder settles in, many are left with questions about the police's inability to curb crime, and blatant lies to the public about the country's crime statistics.

I have noted how the police suddenly "got on their high horses" so to speak, and within hours expressed shock, lied that it was an "isolated" event, and suddenly within a day or so produced a suspect. & as we speak a second one has just been arrested.
What's more, the car was not even registered in the shuttle services name.
*Fishy if you ask me..
*Funny how the police suddenly jump into action when they are pressured by international media making headlines.

...and get this, on the same day this happened, a a German couple were robbed at knife-point in their bed-and-breakfast in the Eastern Cape.

An isolated incident, my arse.

Other news...

Johannesburg – In the week following the 2010 Soccer World Cup, violent crime increased sharply, with a farm attack, home robbery and two murders on July 11, a murder on the 13th and two murders and three home robberies on July 15.
This came to light following a Beeld investigation into serious violent crimes (home robberies, murders, farm attacks and armed robberies in which someone is seriously injured, raped or shot), about which the paper reported during and after the World Cup.
The investigation showed an increase in such incidents in especially South Gauteng (Johannesburg, the East Rand, West Rand and Vaal Triangle), Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and the North West.
During the World Cup, which ran from June 11 to July 11, there were reports about 12 such incidents and afterwards, from July 12 to the end of August, there were reports about 42 incidents.
There was a marked increase in murders – from four in June to 14 in July and 18 in August.

In July an American tourist was shot in a robbery in Sandton, just after stepping off the Gautrain to start his holiday in South Africa. see here!

and this just puts more proof into the pudding.
A filing cabinet packed with about 100 postmortem reports of murders and other unnatural deaths, which were not referred to the police for investigation, has been discovered at the Salt River mortuary in Cape Town.  More here!

However, After reading many news articles I decided to comply a list of comments here for you to read what everyone had to say of this event. So you, the people and the rest of the world can read all about how our government lies to us...

What will be done though, every time something like this happens, murders, hijackings etc., there's a huge outcry and then it goes quiet, WHY?

My Daughter was hijacked and raped last year, we are just luck she wasn't killed. Isolated incident my foot, this is the reality of this country. Everything was covered up for the world cup. A week after the world cup they found the old couple murdered and shoved in the bath, another couple were found in the boot of a car, this happens every day in this country, WHY HIDE IT!

I was hijacked with a gun to my head and my bakkie taken. You say no big deal. Crime happens to thousands of South Africans! My question – Should it still happen to us fifteen years into democracy and why do I still look as if I am about to be hijacked every time I enter or leave my vehicle. Think ...show more I am paranoid! As a law abiding South African should I not be afforded the same safety as the criminals who do us dirty? Where then is the value system. Why do we entice innocent foreigners to the same fate as us South Africans? As long as there is crime, South Africans will never evolve for the better. We are a third world country for heavens sake!!!

I'm south african now living in england and have done for 8 years now. I always think of SA as my home but with an English wife i cant imagine going back to live because of the danger to her. When are these barbarians going to bring back the death penalty? i cant think of any other means to get crime under control. Hard labour and capital punishment my be brought back if SA ever stands a chance of being repaired. with an average of 46 murders a day there should be the same average of executions. or else where is the deterent????

There are another 47 people murdered in ZA every day. We don't see or hear Cele or Mthethwa coming out with public statements for those murders because its just some other hapless South African taxpayer. South African murders, unless they are from prominent ANC folks just get ticked off on a sheet. Ask the people of Pinetown about the local police commander. He doesnt want community policing; he sees it as meddling with his command. He thinks the cops do their jobs fine, never mind that most of the murders in his district go unsolved.

This is a very sad incident indeed BUT why all the publication? People get killed this way in South Africa on a daily basis, it is nothing new and the ANC supports it by singing songs like Kill the farmer kill the boer (Malema) and Bring my machine gun (Zuma) Do we attach so little value to the lives of South Africans that the daily killings and rapes in South Africa is nothing and not worth mentioning but the moment a tourist gets raped and killed it is world news and all the ANC guys pretend to be disgusted and surprised by the incident? My opinion is that the ANC are behind all these senseless killings, look at what happened during the world cup, all the countries rapists and killers went on strike during the world cup and a week after the world cup everything was back to normal.

ANCYL threatens to ’shut down’ Twitter

This takes the cake, This is, and will be the dumbest quote, and decision made by the ANCYL.
Like hell they would...

The ANC Youth League on Wednesday threatened to close down Twitter if the social networking site failed to stop people from impersonating its leader, Julius Malema.

There are currently at least five people claiming to be Malema on Twitter and one has more than 12,000 followers.

Internet expert Arthur Goldstuck said if they tried to carry out their threat, they may find it more difficult than they think.

“A country like the United States wouldn’t be able to close down Twitter just because they object to what is on Twitter," he said.

Keeping the Masses informed Through Education and Smartphones

Education is the key to everything. Yes everything... and it is sad to see that education is left up to the teachers alone at schools. Education begins at home. Sadly many parents forget this, and expect this role to go to all the teachers out there...

However, there is one problem in our country. Education according to the masses is becoming scarce... Every year the education standards are being dropped to meet the lazy learners who have to pass in order to get a job. These learners don't ever get a job, because they have very low marks...

A lot of us educated seem to see a bigger picture... The Government is spending the money that should be going to the improvement of education. This education that should be improving all learners skills, in class by teaching them how to use the computer, maths, proper text books etc. but every year when a school has finally equipped themselves with these necessary things, the students are never happy and always riot, only to bring the school down, and destroy the very important things that were made available for their education...

No wonder why the schools are scared to invest anymore money into the schools, especially the rural areas. The other thing that happens at the schools is this incessant campaigning near elections... Damn it, leave education and politics separate, don't mix it. in stead, rather have a class that teaches everyone about the importance of education, educating one self before elections, and the consequences of voting in the wrong party.

Oh, did I forget, did the ANC educate the schools in this already? did they say, "The ANC is the only right party to vote for" and leave out the rest, and tell those who thought otherwise that they would only bring back apartheid.

Wrong again... we are a country trying to move forward, and even to think that is horrendous.
I just can't conceive the idea of how important it is to educate, not to brainwash, but to educate a child to learn to make up their own minds...

TV is a huge problem today.
When I was a kid all the kids movies had morals to teach a child. everything had a lesson.
Today when you look at TV, it's full of Soapies, full of bad guys leading the pack, cartoons with way too much violence, and not one of these cartoons teach a child morals.
Hell, He-man taught more morals than today's programs.

True, some cartoons are really fun to watch, but that's all it is, fun, entertaining, and not educational.
One has to balance the two out. Entertainment and Education... it has to be fun to learn.

To get back on track...

I was taking a browse through my phone today, an htc, HD2 (a brilliant phone) and thought to myself.
Wouldn't it be nice to see every black African male and female in South Africa with a Smartphone.
A phone that connects to the internet and isn't just good for Mxit or simple chat...

No, a real Smartphone that gets news feeds sent direct to the recipient. I would love to see the MAT and Information Bill get passed on that now.

The ANC are using the un-educated masses, using their ignorance against them, and lying to them, saying that a Media Appeals Tribunal and Information Bill will benefit the poor... How the bloody hell does that work out. (I refuse to believe a word of that dribble)

So, if the government is trying to stop, or get their hands on print media, then, won't online media be next? will it be safe until everyone in South Africa owns a Smartphone that can connect to the web and that receives the real news as it should be?

I say, stay informed, be educated and keep your eyes and ears open, anything you hear and see today is news, it becomes history, but will always leave a mark in South Africa's legacy.
So I say, let's all play our role and get someone connected, even if it's a cheap Smartphone, or above average one... I say help them learn the truth, cause they all have the right to know.

They have the right to educating themselves and learning not to rely on others. They should be able to know everything that goes on around them in our Democracy.

A Bus load of Polititians

A bus load of ANC politicians were driving down a country road when all of a sudden, the bus ran off the road and crashed into a tree in an old farmer's field.

The old farmer, after seeing what had happened, went over to investigate.

He then proceeded to dig a hole to bury the politicians.

A few days later the SAPS came out, saw the crashed bus, and asked the old farmer where all the politicians had gone.

The old farmer said he had buried them.

The sheriff asked the old farmer, "Were they all dead?"

The old farmer replied, "Well, some of them said they weren't, but I didn't believe them."

What's up with That?

So, Johannesburg was full of people wondering what's up...
Everyone's eyes were glued to the sky today as the the unusual ring surrounded the sun appeared for several hours.
Sadly, I was not able to capture this image, and credit goes to Walter Pike for such a beautiful Picture. Well done mate.

I wonder if anyone thought there was some sort of unusual alien hostile take over...
I would not be too surprised, as many unusual things are happening lately, not to mention all these terrible earthquakes and Tsunami's. Oh, and lest not forget Tropical Storms and Tornadoes.

However, this was not one of them... According to legend, seeing one of these means a forecast for rain, precipitation. Pity I missed this one hey. maybe next time for us here in Sunny Durbs.
